Director of Studies
My name is Julia McDermott and I am the Director of Studies at Cambridge English Centre. I come a suburb of London called Crystal Palace in England.
I started teaching English in 1997 and have taught in Poland, Italy, Portugal and England. As well as teaching English, I am also a speaking examiner for the Cambridge exams YLE, KET, PET and FCE. Tim and I opened Cambridge English Centre in 2010. Running an academy is a lot of work but I really enjoy it and, more than anything, I still really love teaching, especially teenagers!
Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a librarian for `The Economist` magazine and I also travelled a lot. I spent a year travelling and working in Asia and Australia and three months in India.
I have lived in Tarragona since 2003 and I really like it here. I think the best things about Tarragona are the beaches and the weather. I also really like the fiestas and the sense of community.
In my free time, I like going to the gym, spending time with my family and watching (English) TV!
